DJ Robbie J is the DJ alter ego of Rob Stephenson – wellbeing speaker, author, and creator of the forthcoming book Music Is the Answer. His sets are rooted in connection rather than perfection, blending uplifting vocal house, disco edits, live percussion, and an instinctive ability to read the room. Whether he’s warming up a dancefloor or closing a night, Robbie J plays with the crowd, shaping energy in real time and creating spaces where people can let go, move freely, and feel better together.

Alongside his DJ work, Rob is a leading voice in workplace wellbeing, known for his practical, human approach to sustainable performance and mental health. His upcoming live show, also titled Music Is the Answer, brings these worlds together – combining storytelling, science, and live music to explore how sound can regulate mood, restore energy, and reconnect us to ourselves and each other.

On a personal level, music isn’t just something I play – it’s something that has helped keep me well.

Living with bipolar disorder has meant learning how to work with my nervous system rather than against it. Music has been one of my most powerful tools for doing that. It helps me regulate my mood, ground my energy, and reconnect when things feel overwhelming or out of sync. Sometimes that means calm, reflective listening. Other times it means loud speakers, a packed dancefloor, and shared release.

When I say music is the answer, I don’t mean it fixes everything. But for me, it has been a constant companion – a way back to balance, meaning, and joy. That belief sits at the heart of everything I do, whether I’m behind the decks, on stage speaking, or writing about wellbeing.
